This is a joint venture between RAU and Room to Read (RTR), aimed at producing quality reading materials in local language and distributing them to schools in Uganda.
2 Ugandan languages have seen a total of 122 titles versioned from English, 61 for Luganda and 61 for Runyankore-Rukiga. With this is selection of partner schools to participate and teachers of these schools trained in book use.
So far, 35,000 Luganda books have been distributed in mostly, 30 schools in Mubende district.
The IBC has a component of the Literacy Cloud. This is the groundbreaking web-based literacy intervention in Uganda. This website uses local language as the interface language and is an e-library for storybooks in local language. It can be accessed both by a phone and also a computer.
Children have an interactive site from which to access some of the best stories ever written in Uganda.
